WELCOME TO
About Christ Church Pre-School
We are proud to say we are an Ofsted Outstanding Pre-School.
Our aim is to develop "positive learners of tomorrow". We endeavour to teach your children to be independent, confident learners who know to value others as well as themselves. We hope with our guidance during their time with us that good values, manners and understanding the need to respect the feelings and cultures of others will stand them in good stead for their move into the primary school of your choice.
Christ Church Pre-School was established in 2003 and achieved "Outstanding" rating with Ofsted in 2019.
Our Building
Parents/Carers are greeted everyday by a minimum of two of our staff members who are always available to discuss any day-to-day concerns that may occur.
We feel it's important to that the child's initial start to the day incorporates the recognition of colours, shapes and phonic knowledge so to assist in this, each child is allocated a coloured and shaped name card along with a coat peg. This is not only to set each child to learning colours, shapes & letters from the moment they step through the door but the colours are also allocated to a 'Key Person' who will be the child's main mentor during their allocation. The colour system is also used by way of logging arrivals (late & early), outside play and fire evacuation safety.
Reception Area
Our reception area is the first stop for your child each day. It's an area for them to place their personal items on their own peg and say hello to their friends whilst parents/carers have an opportunity to chat with other parents and our staff.

Learning Centre Room
Our largest room which allows us to offer a wide range of learning activities for the children. This area allows enough space for freedom of movement and with our inclusive, encouraging & fun environment, the children have a freedom of choice as to the toys they play with.
Quiet Room
Our quiet room adjoins the centre room and is a quiet space for learning, a space for getting away from the hustle & bustle of the centre room and has a soft bean bag area for reading and one-to-one chats as well as writing/drawing tables and there is use of ITC laptops in this space too.
Outside
We all know how essential it is for children to have access to outside space and our pre-school is delighted to be able to offer a free flowing space directly from the centre room as well as Fun Fridays!
Fun Friday Experience
We believe all children need to spend time outdoors as the freedom and connection with nature they experience should be an integral part of every child's growing up experience. We will be consulting parents, staff and, of course, the children, to consider our next steps for the future.
Fun Friday will provide an outdoor play environment for the children to develop their curiosity and learning through engagement with nature the seasons and the elements. We feel our work experiences so far and recent research shows that the Fun Friday approach develops children's holistic development and self-esteem and children with good self-esteem are more confident learner which can only benefit them in the long term.
Government Funding
We accept 30 hour funding, 2-year old funding and universal funding.
- Universal Hours - 15 Hours Childcare: Every child over the age of three is entitled to 15 hours of free childcare a week. This funding can only be claimed from the term after your Child's third birthday - e.g.: If your child’s birthday in is November, you can claim 15 hours free from the January term. This funding is available to every child, irrespective of personal circumstances and can be used between multiple providers but no more than 15 hours can be claimed in one week. The Government funds us directly for 3-hour sessions (either 09:00-12:00 or 12:30-15:30). Please note, if using the 15 hours across multiple providers, it may not be possible to claim the full 15 hours as other provider’s sessions may only be 2 or 2.5 hours in duration.
- 2-year old funding: If you qualify for the 'I am 2' Scheme you will be able to claim for up to 15 hours of free time for your child. The scheme is the same as Universal Hours and your child will automatically move to Universal Hours during the term after their third birthday. Please note, you will not be able to claim 30 Hours if you are on the 'I am 2' Scheme.
- 30 Hours Childcare (Extended Entitlement): We are pleased to participate in the 30 Hours scheme. This allows you more flexibility for childcare. Please note, If you are claiming Universal Hours you cannot apply for the 30 Hours scheme to pay for additional fees. You must apply to HMRC for the 30 Hours scheme and should you be eligible you will receive a code from HMRC which you must pass on to us to verify your eligibility. We do not gain any access to you application to HMRC, we simply see confirmation of your scheme. If you become ineligible or fail to reconfirm with HMRC you will default to the Universal 15 Hour Scheme and we will charge for any additional hours over the Government funded 15 hours. The Government funds us directly for 3-hour sessions (either 09:00-12:00 or 12:30-15:30).
For more details on these funding options, please visit Childcare Choices and/or Gov.uk for the most up to date funding options currently available to you.
Every Child is Different!
Supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
What we do
At Christ Church Pre-school we recognise that all children are unique and we provide a warm welcome to all. We work closely with outside agencies welcoming visits and using any shared information to support children within the setting. We liaise with our Area SENCo team who offer invaluable support and advice.
Our building is wheelchair friendly and we have a disabled toilet. We have a variety of rooms including a quiet room which can be an asset to any child who might, at times, find things a little overwhelming.
During our sessions our sessions we use visual timetables and pictorial images together with some sign language which is an aid for all the children as this develops their understanding, language and attention skills.
Our full SEN Policy is located on the Information page of our website.
Our SENCo
Our SENCo is Lisa Parry who supports the staff in their work with any children who need additional support. Lisa has attended a variety of courses to enhance her knowledge and skills.
Support
If a child needs specific support for any additional needs then the SENCo, together with the child’s key person, will write an action plan for the child, highlighting 2-3 specific targets that we will work on together. These documents are always shared and reviewed with parents and take account any professional agencies involved with the child.
When your child is ready to start school the we liaise with the schools and arrange & attend a transition meeting when necessary to aid the process. Any paperwork such as outside agency reports, Christ Church Action Plans will be sent to the school, with your permission.
This is in your child’s best interest in order to ensure that their new school is aware of any support they may need going forward.
